Sarah Ferguson had spent her Christmas at Sandringham with the royal family members. Now, as 2023 came to an end, the Duchess of York has opened up about the ‘tough year’ as well as ‘miracles and joy’ that followed her these past 12 months.
The 64-year-old British author had recently talked about the importance of love right before Christmas. Followers felt Prince Harry‘s aunt is definitely open to welcoming the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle with open arms amid the speculations of growing distance between the royal family members. It’s also the first time she joined the palace for Christmas celebrations after 32 years. She admitted she was “grateful” for being invited back after three decades.

Sarah Ferguson opens up about breast cancer struggle
She is a royal, but she knows how to keep it real with the world and she is none other than the former wife of Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson. The royal member took to Instagram to reminisce about 2023 with a touching post.
Ferguson wrote: “I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday celebrations today. 2023 hasn’t been without its ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, miracles and joy. I made The Sunday Times Top 5 bestseller list for my historical romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady! I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
After a successful mastectomy, she beat the C monster and shared the nickname for her reconstructed left breast, writing: “I beat breast cancer and now I have got a Derek on my left.”
The Duchess of York concludes the message of hope saying: “I have had the pleasure of meeting some very inspiring people from around the world with beautiful stories to tell. I have discovered within myself that I, too, have more stories to tell.”
The mom-of-two continued: “I am 64 and just getting started. I hope everyone takes time to reflect and to look forward with love and positivity.”

Sarah Ferguson wins fans over with her message of love and understanding
A month before joining the royal family at Sandringham Church on Christmas, Sarah chatted with ITV’s Lorraine Kelly and talked about the importance of understanding and love during the holiday season.
In a world of division, her message of unity struck a chord with followers as she said: “I feel strongly the greatest gift you can give today is understanding, no judgment, no race, creed, color or any other domination, just love.”
“There’s no better gift than love. People say to me, you don’t wear your heart on your sleeve, Fergie or Sarah, you wear it all over your body because that’s what I am. I really believe you can give love,” the author added.
