Galesburg’s parks and recreation director, Elizabeth Varner, is set to retire from the city for the second time on Friday, Feb. 2.
She has devoted over 33 years of service to the city of Galesburg, serving as a recreation supervisor for over 30 years before her first retirement in 2018. In 2022, Varner returned from retirement to lead the department as the director.
Varner holds a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from Indiana University and is a member of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association, as well as the National Parks and Recreation Association. Read More...
For the first time in history, Kenya will join nations that have adopted intersex people identity into law. Germany took this system in 2018 to give people a chance to register as either female, male or intersex on passports and birth certificates. Previously, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) only enlisted citizens as either female or male.
