Jennifer Lopez is rocking a stunning ring on that special finger once again.
The superstar announced her engagement to Ben Affleck this weekend, with the couple taking the step one year after reuniting and 20 years after their first relationship. She shared the news with her fans in a special edition of her On the JLo newsletter, also sharing a video showing the ring, which features an 8.5-carat natural green diamond center stone, set with a white diamond on each side on a silver band.
One can't help but draw comparisons among Lopez's engagement rings over the years. While several celeb engagements have influenced popular ring trends, the Marry Me actor's rings, from Affleck to exes Marc Anthony to Alex Rodriguez back to Affleck, have stood out in the history of exquisite celebrity pieces.
In November 2002, Affleck proposed to the star with a 6.1-carat pink diamond from Harry Winston, estimated to cost $2.5 million. Though Lopez gave the ring back when they ended the engagement in 2004, she recalled how much she "loved getting it" in a 2020 interview with Apple Music host Zane Lowe. She also remembered being starstruck upon meeting Barbra Streisand at an Oscar party, saying that the legend was impressed with the ring.

Lopez's ring from former husband Marc Anthony was also a Harry Winston piece, with the 8.5 carat blue diamond costing $4 million. It also indirectly continued the colored diamond trend that the "Get Right" singer popularized in 2002, and is sure to bring back now. Lopez and Anthony were married in 2003 and finalized their divorce in 2015, and they co-parent their twins Max and Emme Muñiz.

The star's ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez proposed with a huge, emerald-cut diamond ring during a 2019 vacation in the Bahamas. At the time, the piece was estimated to be between 10 and 15 carats and worth in the range of $1 and $5 million. The couple broke off their engagement in early 2021, after dating for four years.

Lopez's new engagement ring has a callback to her last piece from Affleck, in that it's an untraditional color. The multi-hyphenate called green her lucky color in a previous issue of her newsletter, referencing both her iconic Versace dress for the 2000s Grammys, and a piece of artwork that hangs in her office, which shows a green bird perched on someone's hand and the words "Let Go" on either side.
"I always say the color green is my lucky color. Maybe you can remember a certain green dress," she wrote, per People. "I've realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green."
The video clip also shows how much the ring means to Lopez, with the tearful star saying, "You're perfect," as she gazed at the piece.
