Louis Lindsey Jr.

Retired Command Sergeant Major Louis Lindsey Jr. was born July 5, 1942 to the Late Mirlean Delaine Lindsey and Louis Lindsey Sr. in Laurel. He passed away Dec. 28, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

CSGM Lindsey’s former education was in Laurel Public Schools — Sandy Gavin, Nora Davis, Oak Park and Roosevelt Attendance High School, where he graduated in 1962. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army in June 1962 and served his country with more than 28 years of service, spending tours in Vietnam, France, Germany, Korea, Hawaii and numerous stateside assignments.

He was actively involved in his Church, serving as a greeter, president of brotherhood and president of the trustee board until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by brother Robert Earl Lindsey; sisters Erma Pearl Johnson and Ruth Goodwin; daughter-in-law Deborah Arrington; and grandsons Andrew Deherrera and Anthony Garcia.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lillie Pearl Heidelberg Lindsey; daughter Karen D. Lindsey; sons Eric Antonio Arrington and Louis Lindsey III (Carol J. Lindsey); grandsons Eric Makanna Arrington and Troy Garcia; three adopted granddaughters, Jordan Maye, Latrena Pear Smith and Courtney Maye; five sisters, Doris Palmer (Lee), Edna Pettis (Mike), Margaret Hon, Joyce McSwain, and Faye Patterson; brothers Bobby Lindsey and Billy Lindsey; special sisters-in-law Doris J. Heidelberg Donald and Lucia Heidelberg; special nieces Jessica Dozier and Temesha McSwain; and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Morningstar MB Church at 236 Flora Ave. in Laurel, with burial in Oak Hill No. 2 Cemetery. A viewing will be at 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Rev. Dr. A.G. McSwain Jr. will officiate. Brown Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
