Mary Margaret Lindsey Lawhon
Mary Margaret Lindsey Lawhon, born March 3, 1942 in Laurel, passed from this life on Jan. 23, 2024.
Mary was the daughter of Russell Lindsey and Margaret Murphey Lindsey. She graduated from George S. Gardiner High School in 1959 and attended Ole Miss, where she was a member and officer of Phi Mu Sorority. She graduated with the Class of 1963 and was the third generation of her family to do so. Mary was married to Bob Lawhon on March 28, 1964. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, an active member of Northwood Garden Club, Bay Flower Garden Club, Three Arts Club, the Red Hat Society, Regent of Nahoula Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mississippi State Officer DAR and a lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell Lindsey and Margaret Murphey Lindsey.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Bob Lawhon; daughter Beth Lawhon Strode (Pat) of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; son Rob Lawhon (Angie) of Seminary; and her grandchildren Payton Lawhon, Russell Strode, Luke Lawhon, Abby Stringer and Annalee Stringer. She is also survived by her sister Robbie Troyka (Jeff) of Laurel; nephews Jonathan Troyka of Oxford and Dan Troyka (Claudia) of Saline, Mich.; niece Sophie Moscovici-Troyka; and nephew Alex Moscovici-Troyka.
Services will be Sunday, Jan. 28, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with the service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Park Cemetery. Dr. Randy Turner will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Payton Lawhon, Luke Lawhon, Russell Strode, Pat Strode, Jonathan Troyka and Dan Troyka.
